How are you Budding Photogs, this could possibly be great.

The International Center of Photography (ICP) will reopen on January 25 in its new 40,000 square foot space at Essex Crossing, a residential, retail and office complex on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The move allows ICP to consolidate its museum space and photography school for the first time since 2016, when the museum moved to temporary space on the Bowery and the school remained in Midtown. According to real estate news and property records, ICP paid $29 million for its space at Essex Crossing, located at 79 Essex Street. Property records also show Essex Crossing’s developers bought ICP’s old space on the Bowery, valued at $25 million.

ICP will offer free admission on January 25, when it will open four exhibitions. The first exhibitions are :
“Contact High: A Visual History of Hip-Hop,” an exhibition previously shown at the Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles
“Tyler Mitchell: I Can Make You Feel Good,” a collection of work by the 2017 NYU Tisch graduate who, in 2018, became the first black photographer to shoot a cover of American Vogue
“Warriors,” a live digital work by artist James Coupe, whose video art explores the uses of new imaging technology and algorithms
“The Lower East Side: Selections from the ICP Collection” will look at the museum’s neighborhood and honor the documentary photography that has formed the backbone of its collection since it was founded by Cornell Capa in 1974.

The museum will offer free admission on the day of its opening.

The museum is located on the ground floor, and a stairway connects it to the ICP school. The new space will also host the ICP library and a space to hold talks, as well as the ICP store and café.
